Acer highlights new notebook design at Computex Taipei 2007

Setting the trend in mobile PC design

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (5 June, 2007) -- Acer is highlighting two distinctive notebook designs to address the separate need and expectation of consumer and commercial notebook users, at Computex Taipei 2007. Visitors will also find on display Acer's full range of products from the desktop, server, LCD TV, LCD monitor, handheld, and projector lines, with new products from the notebook and desktop PCs making their first appearances at the show.

Consumer and commercial design notebooks
Acer is tailoring its notebook design and functionality for consumer and commercial market needs. The brand characteristics for the Aspire are easy and fun, and dependability for the TravelMate mobile user.

Aspire Gemstone design: The Gemstone concept notebook features a shiny jet-black frame encasing a satin-finish sub-layer with the Acer logo floating above like a shimmering holographic-3D projection, this unique feature is achieved through advanced in-mold design technique. Open the cover to reveal a light gray ceramic-like interior surface for a striking contrast against the black exterior. The entire notebook is smoothly curved like a finely-cut opal and provides a very comfortable touch. An enlightener media flow frames the keyboard and joins the speaker grill, Empowering Key, and touch-sensitive Acer MediaTouch keys, expressing the Aspire's individuality.

Aspire Gemstone features: World's first full line of consumer notebooks to feature Dolby® Home Theater™ for enhanced virtual surround sound experience, and supporting Intel® Centrino Pro and Centrino Duo platforms. Acer MediaTouch keys provide users with one-touch access to total media control and Acer Arcade™ Deluxe.

TravelMate ProFile design: The ProFile concept asserts portability, protection and adaptable usability that professionals can count on. The TravelMate's slim and sturdy cover is made of magnesium alloy, which is 20 times stronger and much lighter than plastic, thus minimizes weight and protects against shock, vibration, and everyday wear-and- tear. Easy-access productivity keys are thoughtfully grouped together with clear graphics facilitating intuitive and efficient access.

TravelMate ProFile features: Supports Intel® Centrino Pro and Centrino Duo platforms with enhanced Acer DASP improved data protection. Acer is displaying its first 12" ultraportable 2-spindle (built-in optical disk drive) notebook with the TravelMate 6292, which supports ezDock II/II+. Acer Bio-Protection fingerprint solution with FingerLaunch, FingerNav and PBA support provides enhanced security. Complete one-touch Acer Video Conference solution includes the Acer Crystal Eye webcam with smart built-in angle enables productive multi-way conferencing, and Acer Xpress Bluetooth® VoIP phone.

Aspire M-series desktop PC
The microtower form factor desktop PC debuts at Computex with a new outlook. Key design elements are: a power enlightener that lights up to reflect the entertainment and productivity features within. A silver arch angles past bright blue LED lights and leads to the classic Aspire logo, also glowing blue. The black-silver-blue balance of the Aspire M-series creates a special blend of cool elegance, and the aluminum Acer nameplate gleams with sophistication.

Windows Vista compliant LCD monitors
Acer's full range of LCD monitors has been tested by WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) for Windows Vista compliance. The tests ensure that all Acer LCD lines connect to Windows Vista easily, enabling users to make the most of Vista innovations, and enjoy a reliable, stable and secure experience.

With full commitment in designing products that offer a user-friendly experience, Acer had anticipated the growing need for widescreen monitors. Hence, Acer's widescreen LCD monitor lines include 19", 20", 22", 24" and 26" sizes with 16:10 display ratio to give plenty of onscreen space for applications, and extra room on the side for Vista's Sidebar, Office2007, Vista Media Center, Internet Explorer 7's Tab Browsing, Navigation, Preview pane or Reading Pane modes of Explorer.

LCD TVs
In welcoming the era of the Digital Home, Acer is displaying its comprehensive line of LCD TVs in 19", 26", 32" and 42" screen sizes. In addition to distinction, clarity, individual style and convenient usability, Acer Scenario Mode helps users select the best picture definition setting for their choice of entertainment, including scenery depth, resolution, brightness and sharpness.
